Affinity- relationship by marriage
My parents affinity is strong and I pray to have a similar affinity when I grow up.
Bilious- of or indicative of a peevish ill nature disposition
He had a bilious attitude, that it repelled everyone.
Cognate- of the same nature
We have cognate beliefs, which is why we connect so easily.
Corollary- A proposition inferred Immediately from a proved proposition with little or no additional proof
The corollation wasn't clear.
Cul-de-sac - a pouch
The boxer gave the other a big cul-de-sac. (not sure if that makes sense)
Derring-do- a daring action
The stunt man expressed many derring-dos.
Divination- The art or practice that seeks to foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge due to the interpretation of omens
The medium used a lot of divination in her home.
Elixir- A substance capable of prolonging life indefinitely
She longed to find the elixir to keep her young forever.
Folderol- a useless accessory
The girls long fake nails were just a folderol.
Gamut- an entire range or series
The team won the whole gamut.
Hoi polloi- the General populace
The hoi polloi all agreed on the debate at hand.
Ineffable- incapable of being expressed in words
Her feelings were ineffable.
Lucubration- to study by night
To prepare for the test she used lucubration.
Mnemonic- intended to assist memory
She used pictures to mnomic old memories.
Obloquy- abusive language
The man would talk to his girlfriend with obloquy.
Parameter- an independent variable used to express the coordinates of variable point and functions of them
The parameter of the points was 6.
Pundit- a learned man
You should take his advise because he is pundit.
Risible- provoking laughter
Symptomatic- having the characteristics of a certain disease but arising of a different cause
Her diagnostis seemed symptomatic but not accurate.
Volte-face- a reversal in policy
The teacher demenstrated a volte-face when she went back on her previous rules.
